The designation NRS for NAVAL RADIO STATION was replaced by CFS FOR CANADIAN FORCES STATION when the Royal Canadian Navy was swallowed into the Canadian Forces during the much hated unification of the Canadian Forces in the late 1960s. A black mark in Canadian history.

Main radio reception site of the Royal Canadian Navy on the east coast of Canada for LF, MF and HF radio communications. NRS MILL COVE opened in 1967 and replaced NRS ALBRO LAKE which had become a noisy receiving site due to its proximity to the cities of Halifax and Dartmouth.

This was an experimental station in the early 1970s for ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship HF radio communications using spread spectrum technology (Project Tobacco). This experimental station no longer exists.
